About Matthew Tshuma
I am an IT support and cybersecurity professional with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Hull. My portfolio spans industry‑aligned projects and a home lab where I build Linux and Windows servers on Raspberry Pi, troubleshoot networks and analyse traffic with Wireshark, Nmap, tcpdump and Splunk. As a volunteer with the Scottish Tech Army I led internal security audits, risk assessments and compliance checklists using the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, GDPR and PCI DSS, recommending controls like multi‑factor authentication, least‑privilege access and encryption. For my final year I developed CarersHub—a secure web app for carers and service providers—implementing role‑based access control, encrypted databases and GDPR‑compliant user management. I am certified in CISSP, CEH, ITIL V4 and the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate. I am actively seeking entry‑level SOC analyst or IT support roles where I can apply my analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills to protect systems and support users.
